Here We Go. AB InBev Sniffing Around For More Craft Breweries

imagesHaving recently augmented its craft stable with last month’s acquisition of Seattle’s Elysian Brewing, AB InBev is reportedly eyeing more craft producers, including in the Sunshine State. The Tampa Tribune reports that Tampa-based Cigar City Brewing has been approached by the world’s largest brewer, and fellow Florida craft houses like Cape Canaveral’s Florida Beer Co., Boynton Beach’s Due South Brewing and Jacksonville’s Intuition Ale Works are also considered potential acquisition targets.

Cigar City owner Joey Redner told The Tribune regarding ABI’s interest, “We have been approached about having a more in-depth meeting. There hasn’t been a second meeting.” Due South founder Mike Halker, meanwhile, wouldn’t confirm or deny that he’s been approached by ABI, but told The Palm Beach Post that “Due South is not for sale and I would not expect that to change anytime soon.”
