Since the ancient Romans helped spread the gospel of the grape to France, Italy has been known as a wine country.
Today, it’s still better known for Barolo and Amarone than pilsners and wheat beers, but that’s slowly starting to change, thanks to people like Iacopo Lenci.
Lenci, founder of Tuscany’s Bruton brewery, is part of a burgeoning craft brewing movement in Italy, which has seen the number of breweries in the country swell from just a handful to more than 250 over the last 15 years.
