Queen beer1Queen are now the latest rockers to get involved in the beer business. The group has just announced that, in honor of the 40th anniversary of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” it’s launching a new brew.

Billboard reports that Queen Bohemian Lager is described as a “golden hoppy” beer, with an ABV of 4.7 percent. Keeping with its theme, it is, according to The Week, brewed in Pilzen, which is located in the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic and where pilsner types of beer originated. The bottle will carry Queen’s crest, designed by Freddie Mercury, and the image from the cover of A Night at the Opera, the album that originally featured “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

The beer will start hitting shelves in Europe this summer, with a worldwide release to follow. It is brewed by RnR Brew Ltd., with whom Queen previously teamed up for their Killer Queen vodka and Millionaire malbec wine last year. RnR’s website says that the beer contains only three ingredients, all of which are GMO-free: Czech soft water, Moravian barley malt and Saaz hops. It will be sold in 11.1-ounce bottles, with six-pack, 12-pack and crate options available.

Many rock bands have put out signature beers in recent years, including Kiss, AC/DC, Motorhead, Pearl Jam and Iron Maiden, whose Trooper ale has been quite successful since its release in 2013. Check out Loudwire for their rankings of 20 signature brews from rock and metal bands.
