Does Alcohol Advertising Have an Effect on Teen Drinking?

There is no doubt that teen drinking is a problem in the United States, and parents are concerned about the effects of alcohol advertising on their teen. In a survey conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates and American Viewpoint for the Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth at Georgetown University, parents revealed that they believe that alcohol ads have a “serious effect on teen drinking habits, and they see alcohol companies as falling far short in dealing responsibly with the impact of their advertising on young people” (Buddy T., 2007). Almost three-fourths of the parents surveyed believe that seeing alcohol ads inspires teens to drink. They also believe that without these ads, their teens would not be as likely to drink alcohol.
