Booze News

Bloody mary connoisseurs will descend on the North Shore hamlet of Highwood on Sunday to partake in the town’s second annual homage to the vodka and tomato juice cocktail.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., mixologists along Highwood Avenue will be serving up their best concoctions for the masses — and compete for the coveted “Best Bloody Mary of the Midwest” title.

Sunday’s event is a prelude to the city’s next big shindig: Garlic Fest on Aug. 17, where garlic candy, garlic ice cream and probably breath mints will abound.
