Christmas Cooking & Drinking 10% ABV Beer

God, I hope everything tastes as delicious as I think it does. Got up at 5:30am to start the annual Christmas dinner cooking for 15, having spent precious hours of my life looking up the best recipes with which to wow our guests. So, about 5 hours slipped by before I realized I needed something to quaff my thirst. Okay, so while shopping at Whole Foods the other day (where else?), I bought Maredsous Abbaye-Abdij Triple/Tripel (however the hell they want to spell it) strictly because it was 10% alcohol. Boy, did that come in handy. I’m sailin’ thru my cooking and tasting never tasted so good. Also, I’m not in the habit of sharing the scientific basis of my drinking choices, but, hey, we’re all friends, right?!
Hope you’re having an awesome Christmas eve with not too much familial repressed anger and checking your watch….oh, that’s so yesterday…your cellphone for an appropriate time for a quick getaway. For those who love their families and relish the time spent with them, hats off to you. Really, hats off to everyone for getting thru another dodgy year. Wish you all health, love, & awesome booze in 2011!
