indexCOCHON 555 TROTS INTO LOS ANGELES WITH TWO EPIC DINNERS AND A WHO’S WHO LINEUP and sets course on a safer, more flavorful good food system, period!

The country’s most talked about culinary competition returns with an epic 3-day feast showcasing some of the best bites and chefs and of the good food movement. The goal – to celebrate family farms, heritage breed pigs and tilt the scales in favor of today’s emerging chef community struggling to pay premium prices for safer, more flavorful food raised by real farmers.

It starts Friday evening with a guest chef dinner at BS Taqueria hosted by Ray Garcia “2014 King of Porc” followed by a large format meat feast on Saturday / Preview of Ray’s Broken Spanish and then the main event Cochon 555 on Sunday at Viceroy Santa Monica. The events are part of a national tour that spotlights notable chefs, barrier-breaking women, artist-like butchers, spirited bartenders, top winemakers, brewers, distillers oysters, caviar, and sweets. Going on its seventh year, Cochon 555 is regarded as the nation’s most flavorful culinary tour and here is your chance to get in on the action.

Sunday’s main event – Cochon 555 features five chefs cooking five pigs in a friendly competition. This year’s competing chefs include Chef Ricardo Zarate, Kris Morningstar of Terrine, Tony DiSalvo of Cast Restaurant, Walter Manzke of Republique and Steven Fretz of The Church Key. The five chefs will prepare a maximum of six dishes with hopes to win votes from a crowd of hungry gourmands and celebrated judges. They will be preparing the following heritage breeds from family farms that include a Red Wattle from Walnut Creek, Large Black from Cook Pigs Ranch, Hampshire from Rainbow Ranch Farms, Kune Kune from Old Reminisce Farms and an Old Spot from DG-Langley Farm.  It’s almost sold out, wait too long, then you get none!  CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS

The weekend begins on Friday, March 27th, with the Chef’s Course Dinner hosted by Ray Garcia of BS Taqueria, “2010 King of Porc” David Varley of RN74 Seattle, Vartan Abgarya of Cliff’s Edge, Carlos Salgado of Taco Maria and Roxana Jullapat with a “Nose to Taco Reception” followed by five courses paired with the Wines of Germany at BS Taqueria. On Saturday, March 28th, attend a “Large Format Feast” hosted by Chef Ray Garcia of the soon to be open Broken Spanish in this epic “Big Beef vs Heritage Pig” four-course dinner paired with reserve wines from St. Francis Winery, Hirsch, and Old Potrero 18th Century. The national dinner series features chefs that are reinventing the traditional steakhouse experience. Only $110.
