Booze NewsForget salt and pepper, a Burgundy-based company has launched a range of spirits in atomizers which are designed to be sprayed on to food as a seasoning.
Seven spirits, including a Cognac, rum, Scotch whisky and pastis, come in a perfume-like bottle and are designed to be sprayed while cooking or at the table. “We want to rekindle the idea of using spirits in cooking. It is part of our gastronomic heritage,” said Jean-David Camus, co-founder of Brumes Gourmandes, based in the town of Beaune.
“The advantage of this product is the amount you use. You can put as much or as little as you want at the table, based on your taste preferences,” said Camus, who previously worked in the perfume industry.
Each spray emits 0.2 of a milliliter (0.01 of an ounce) of liquid in a mist, which Brumes Gourmandes says allows users to “perfectly control the amount used and to bring a delicate, balanced and subtle flavor” to food.
