The latest alcohol trend to market products to young consumers is alcohol-infused whipped cream, a 30-proof whipped topping that comes in a variety of flavors including chocolate, raspberry, orange, and cherry. Brand names Canisters of Cream and Whipped Lightening are being offered in stores across the country and contain about as much alcohol as a liqueur such as Bailey’s Irish Cream or three to four regular beers. The canisters of “whipahol” cost about 13 dollars each and can be purchased in liquor stores or online. Public health officials worry that the products could lead to potential abuse. The Massachusetts Alcohol Beverages Control Commission is monitoring the products to ensure they comply with all state laws.
