The good-to-the-last-drop award should certainly go to The Macallan award-winning single malt whisky – just recently Guinness World Records awarded the famous whisky the accolade of “most expensive whisky sold at auction,” for the second time when the The Macallan M Imperiale 6-litre Lalique fine crystal decanter sold at Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong for a record-breaking $628,000 USD. The buyer was an Asian private collector, breaking the previous record of $460,000 USD held a year earlier, again with a Macallan inspiration.
Now before you clasp your chest in shock, all net proceeds from the sale of the bottle were donated to local charities in Hong Kong. The Macallan historically is considered one of the world’s most sought after and collectable whiskies, consistently number one in value at auction among all whiskies.
Plus the Macallan M Imperiale is the largest decanter Lalique (the name of the company who created the decanter), has ever made, and the largest The Macallan has ever filled.
