Reyka BottleCALLING ALL BANDS, DJs AND MUSICIANS: Reyka Vodka to send two bands and two fans to the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival

NEW YORK, AUGUST 12th — Do you think you’re the next Florence and the Machine? Maybe the second coming of Sigur Rós? How about the future Hot Chip? Well, this is your chance to follow in these bands’ footsteps (literally) and play the stage at Iceland Airwaves. Reyka, Iceland’s preciously small- batched vodka and winner of 2011’s IWSC Vodka Trophy, is intent on discovering inventive music talent motivated to play on the big stage. As such, for the third time Reyka is offering to send two groups to the Land of the Midnight Sun, to play at the music festival Rolling Stone calls “the hippest long weekend on the annual music festival calendar.” Two lucky bands will perform in front of screaming fans among the glaciers, fields of lava rock, and towering waterfalls of spring water that shape Iceland’s unique terrain and inspire its hand-crafted vodka, Reyka. Sound pretty magical? We think so too, but you have to move fast as the competition ends one week from today on August 19th.

Being the friendly, inclusive Icelanders that they are, our friends at Reyka want to share Iceland Airwaves not just with bands, but with music fanatics around the world as well. An additional contest will be held for two lucky fans to travel to Iceland and experience Iceland Airwaves first hand. Highlights of the trip include VIP access to the festival each day, a special tour of Sigur Rós’ studio where they have recorded most of their albums, and of course, an exploration of the geothermal wonders    Reykjavík. Fans are invited to apply through Reyka’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ReykaVodka) from August 30th through September 30th. “Iceland makes up for its small size of population with a uniquely inventive and innovative culture, exemplified in the development of Iceland’s very first vodka distillery and selection of a rare Carter-Head still in lieu of more traditional options,” says Reyka Senior Brand Manager Lindsay Prociw. “We want our creative friends around the world to flock to Reyka’s land as a beacon of inspiration and imagination, and we’re happy to shepherd them one band, or fan, at a time.”

HOW TO ENTER: Reyka asks that prospective bands, musicians and DJs submit up to three of their own songs via Reyka’s entry page on Grooveshark (http://grooveshark.com/reykabands) between August 1st – 19th. Iceland Airwaves will then select contest winners based solely on skill and the inventiveness of their music making.
