They cannot agree on the budget, the war in Afghanistan, or how to revive the economy, but warring Democrats and Republicans in Washington have finally found common ground – lowering taxes on beer microbrewers.
U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., has proposed a bill that he said will make it easier for small brewers to flourish and create jobs. Republicans such as Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., have quickly signed on to the measure.
“Higher taxes mean fewer jobs, it’s that simple,” Brown said.
“Lowering taxes for our Massachusetts brewers will help these small businesses grow, expand and hire more workers. In Massachusetts, we have some of the leading microbrewers in the country, and I will continue to fight to give them the tools and resources they need to compete and thrive.”
