Great news, Cocktalians! Ryan Wainwright, bartender extraordinaire, worked his magic and concocted delectable and refreshing summer cocktails, at Viviane, that are perfect for sipping while dangling your tootsies in the fabulous pool.
You have ten new cocktails to choose from. Nope, I did not have them all as tempting as it was. But I started with the Double Barrel Cocktail – a nod to George Kappeler’s 1895 cocktail book, Modern American Drinks – a boozy drink made with three different ryes: Wild Turkey 101, Rittenhouse Rye, Russels 6yr Rye; two vermouths: La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Blanc (dry) and Carpano (sweet) plus Vergano Chinato. That, Ladies and Gents, is as kickass a cocktail as you’ll ever have.
I could not resist the Martini Flight: Traditional Martini (1891) which is the original Martini, Delmonico Cocktail (1914) and The Dirty (2016). They were all heavenly. For sheer lovliness, The Dirty had this lovely, pale salmon color from the Kalamata olives that were used to infuse the Grey Goose.
The cocktail menu takes you on a tour through a timeline of great classic cocktails: Gin and Tonic (1825), Cuba Libre (1900), Paloma, New Orleans Pimms Cup (1940), Hemingway Daiquiri (1930), Pina Colada (1954), Double Barrel Cocktail (1895) and the above mentioned Martinis. That is quite a trip!
For awesome eats, Chef Michael Hung, has a new happy hour menu to add to all this deliciousness.
It’ll be a long hot summer so make your way through the menu. Lead Bartender, Harry Lewin, will take good care of you!
