Taste on Melrose‘s new Spring/Summer cocktails are so beautiful they would not be out of place as an accessory for this gorgeous Alexander McQueen dress! Sometimes beauty is only skin deep but these cocktails are not just a pretty face. They are delicious, refreshing warm-day sippers created by Bar Manager, Mark Fantasia and executed by cool bartender, Harry Lang…who may or may not be a relative.
A great start, the Kentucky Gardener: Makers Mark bourbon, fresh lemon juice, Kentucky shrub, fennel bitters. Next up – now don’t be put off by the name – Don’t Drink The Kool-Aid. This tasted nothing like Kool-Aid even though it was made with house-made Kool-Aid syrup, Grey Goose vodka, Peychaud’s bitters and a spritz of rose water. I could drink this all day long! And then the Cucumber Thyme – refreshing indeed! – Hendrick’s gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, fresh cucumber, fresh thyme, pinch of salt. This was only a mere sample of the what’s in store on the cocktail menu. There are plenty more to try. All shrubs, special bitters and syrups are made in-house. My picture really doesn’t do them justice. You have to go to Taste and see for yourself.
The new Atrium just opened in December – it is a wonderfully designed open space that’s great for mingling or just sitting at the bar enjoying the vibe. And, there’s a terrific bar menu.
Happy Hour 3 – 7 Tuesday to Saturday, 4 – 7 weekends, closed Monday.
