In an awards ceremony dubbed the ‘Oscars’ of the luxury world held in Beijing, the World Luxury Association (WLA) announced the top 100 brands in categories like aircraft, yachts, cars, fashion, jewellery, cosmetics and liquor. Rankings were released Jan 19.
Among the mostly French wine and spirits brands, Guatemalan brand Ron Zacapa and Scottish single malt producer Macallan also made the list.
Here are the WLA’s top 10 luxury brands in liquor:
- L’or De Jean Martell
- Louis XIII
- Richard Hennessy
- Château Petrus Wine
- Château Lafite Rothschild
- Ron Zacapa
- Dom Perignon
And if it wasn’t official before, it is now: China has surpassed Japan to become the world’s largest consumer of luxury goods according to the latest WLA’s 2012 report on the top luxury brands in the world.
In 2012, the WLA predicts that the luxury goods market will be dominated by Chinese consumers, spurred by a depreciating euro and more Chinese traveling to Europe this year. Total consumption of luxury goods is expected to reach 59 billion euros.
China surpassed the US as the largest consumer of luxury brands in 2009.
The list is based on the luxury brand’s influence on a global scale, market share, consumer feedback and other composite scores.
