Want a beer with that slider? Or how about a red house wine with some onion chips?

White Castle is testing beer and wine sales at its Lafayette, Ind., store as the Columbus-based hamburger chain considers a range of options that might be added at its restaurants.

The Lafayette location is a dual-concept restaurant that houses both a White Castle and a Blaze Modern BBQ, one of three new concepts being tested by the company. White Castle also is testing an Asian food concept, Laughing Noodle, in Springfield, and Deckers, whose offerings include grilled sandwiches, in Lebanon, Tenn.

Beer and wine sales at the Lafayette store will help the company decide whether it wants to offer adult beverages at other White Castle restaurants, said Jamie Richardson, vice president of corporate relations for the company.

The beverage test is part of a larger look at the three new concepts White Castle has been studying since summer, he said.
