Craft beer exports surged to record highs in 2012

a1Americans aren’t the only ones with a growing taste for American-made craft beer.

The Brewers Association reports this morning that exports surged by 72 percent last year, for a total value approaching $50 million.

Canadians continued to be the largest importer of U.S. crafts, buying just north of 68,000 barrels.

These numbers are small compared to the global reach of the majors, but the BA likes the trend.

“Consumers continue to view American craft brewers as leaders in innovation and among the standard bearers for quality,” says a spokesman.
