That’s one of the findings from a snapshot taken by GuestLogix, a firm that provides the in-flight payment systems used by roughly 90% of the airlines in North America.
A review of in-flight sales on five airlines, including some of the leading U.S. carriers, found that passengers made the most onboard purchases when headed to Seattle, San Francisco and Las Vegas.
And those Vegas-bound flights sold more beverages, many containing alcohol, than flights headed to any other domestic destination.
The sales data, from November 2013 to February of this year, focused primarily on North American flights. The information gives a glimpse into a revenue stream that is playing an increasingly vital role in the airline industry’s finances.
