MillerCoors LLC’s domestic volume sales dropped 3.2% during the six months that ended Sept. 30 from a year earlier, according to a statement released Monday.

During the three months ended Sept. 30, sales were down 4%, according to London-based SABMiller Plc. Chicago-based MillerCoors is a joint venture of SABMiller and Molson Coors Brewing Co.

The U.S. beer market continues to be affected by “economic uncertainty and high levels of unemployment,” the company said.

Sales for premium light brands, which include Miller Lite and Coors Light, were down in the low single digits, the statement said. Miller Lite and Coors are the company’s two largest brands. The company’s Tenth and Blake crafts and imports division saw double-digit growth, with particularly strong performance from Blue Moon and Leinenkugel’s, the statement said.{Source the Journal Sentinel}
