Last week, the New York International Spirits Competition (NYISC) named Ballast Point Spirits “California Distillery of the Year,” in addition to medal wins for four of the San Diego distillery’s spirits.
Ballast Point’s Old Grove Gin and Devil’s Share Moonshine each earned silver medals, while Three Sheets White Rum and Devil’s Share Bourbon each took home a bronze. Earning four medals across four different spirits categories helped garner the “California Distillery of the Year” distinction for Ballast Point.
“It’s always humbling to win individual awards for each of our spirits,” explained Yuseff Cherney, Ballast Point’s COO & Head Brewer/Head Distiller, “but winning this distinction for the distillery as a whole speaks to the quality we strive to create across the board.”
Ballast Point Brewing and Spirits established its production brewery in 1996; the distillery was added in 2008. The first craft distillery in San Diego, Ballast Point Spirits is one of over 30 operating distilleries in the state of California.
