Brown-Forman, the company behind some of America’s most popular spirits (Jack Daniel’s, Southern Comfort, etc.), recently joined forces with New York’s Plaza Hotel to offer a one-of-a-kind whiskey “flight.” The idea: Sample a spirit from each of the last nine decades – yes, straight from the original bottle – and see how styles and tastes have changed.

Speakeasy attended a preview tasting and came away with a renewed appreciation not only for good, honest American booze – there’s nothing quite like that sweet and smoky taste of bourbon – but also with a better understanding of how each era puts its own stamp on whiskey.
