Thai food is one of Australia’s most popular cuisines, and now, for the first time foodies can pair their favourite stir-fries or curries with Thai wine, after its recent release at Sailors Thai restaurant in Sydney.
Thailand winery, GranMonte, has released seven international award winning wines into the Australian market, including a 2010 Sakuna Rose Syrah, a 2010 Spring Chenin Blanc and a 2010 Sole Chenin Blanc/Viognier.
GranMonte’s founders, Visooth and Sakuna Lohitnavy helped to launch the wines at Sailor Thai last month, where the 2010 Z Rose, which has zero sugar, and the 2009 Asoke Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah were matched with a smoked pork sausage with salmon roe, oysters and eschallots.
The Asoke is an exciting new creation for GranMonte and the Thai wine industry, which until now has been without a majority Cabernet blend red.
