As announced by Tourism Australia, the Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia programme will see award-winning wine producers opening their doors to overseas travellers to show off the best tipples available.
Managing director of the tourism body Andrew McEvoy said the move will package up and promote the crème de la crème of Australia’s wineries, cellar doors and wine experiences.
“These wineries are not simply venues to taste and purchase wine. Most of them offer a complete tourism experience – restaurants, accommodation, tours, as well as exciting behind the scenes winery experiences,” he added.
“They allow visitors to interact with the product, the winemaker and enjoy first-hand, the rich diversity that our many wine regions have to offer.”
It comes as hotel and resort group Accor unveiled a partnership with Great Golf Courses of Australia in a bid to attract the affluent golfing crowd to Oz.
