In an effort to help winery owners and operators tap into the booming Chinese wine market, OWD Wine is assembling a group of award-winning wineries to exhibit at the Shanghai Wine Trade Fair, early this summer.

From 2005 and 2009, wine consumption increased over 100% according to figures from International Wine and Spirit Research. IWSR expects the growth to continue and is predicting a 20% increase to 126 million cases by 2014.

Numbers like these are hard to ignore and not many wineries are. The issue is usually in the how. How do I meet distributors in China? How do Chinese wine markets work? OWD Wine has found a niche to answer these questions.

“We realized that many mid-size wineries are interested in selling to China, but the distance and differences make it intimidating. The best way to enter the market, is to see it for yourself, build those relationships yourself. The Chinese consider personal relationships as an integral piece to doing business with someone. By taking care of the details, our group can focus on one thing; selling their product at the Shanghai Wine Trade Fair and building relationships.” Says
John Russell, CEO of OWD Wine.

Not only will the group spend three days exhibiting to distributors, restaurants owners and retail outlets, they will also enjoy a two day tour of Hangzhou – China?s most beautiful city.

As John put it; “This trip is truly the best mix of business and pleasure. First and foremost, it is a selling trip. But five-star hotels, great meals and breathtaking sightseeing certainly make it more appealing.”

Space is limited and early commitment is necessary. Interested parties should contact OWD Wine soon to ensure a spot.
