CONCORD — Mark your calendars and save the dates! New Hampshire Wine Week 2011 will be held Jan. 24-30. Raise your glasses to toast our sixth annual event!

The New Hampshire Liquor Commission will host wine tastings, bottle signings, seminars and special savings on hundreds of value and premium wines at NH Liquor and Wine Outlets statewide.

This year, Wine Week has attracted some of the finest winemakers in the world, including headliners Laurie Hook, from Beringer Vineyards; Joel Peterson, the founding winemaker from Ravenswood Vineyard; and John Williams, Owner and Winemaker for Frog’s Leap. Winemakers from as far away as Chile and France will be in New Hampshire to host events around our state. There will be even more amazing wines to sample.

Wine Week festivities also include several special dinners and guest bartender nights hosted at a number of restaurants all around New Hampshire.

“New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlet stores have the largest selection of wines in all of New England,” said Joseph Mollica, Chairman of the New Hampshire Liquor Commission. “Our buyers work tirelessly to offer a wide variety of quality wines at everyday low prices. Wine Week showcases some of the best wines the world has to offer, and a chance to sample some varieties you might not realize we carry in our stores. ”

Wine celebrities from around the world will gather for a week-long schedule of events across the state, including Portsmouth, Concord, Nashua, Dixville Notch, Manchester and Keene. These experts will help wine lovers expand their palates, and teach the newcomers how to discover what they enjoy.

“We want to put customers and winemakers in the same room to share ideas and to answer questions about wines,” explains NH Liquor Commission Wine Marketing Specialist Nicole Brassard. “Demand for quality and affordable wines is on the rise. In our stores, we see an increasingly wide audience of customers developing an expanded taste for wines.”

The highlight of the week is Jan. 27, with the Winter Wine Spectacular to benefit Easter Seals NH. The event will feature more than 1,500 attendees and will be held at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Manchester.

Among the wine experts who are planning to attend are Alex Sokol Blosser, president of Sokol Blosser; Lionello Marchesi, world-renowned Tuscan Wine Entrepreneur; Tom Eddy, Owner and Winemaker from Tom Eddy Winery; Amy LaBelle, New England’s own winemaker for LaBelle Winery; Francisco Baettig, Chief Winemaker from Chilean vineyard Viña Erràzuriz, and many more!
