Napa: Harvest up, yield down after cool summer

Yields are down, the harvest is two to three weeks behind schedule, but growers are hopeful that a high-quality vintage can be picked before serious rains.

A mild summer up and down the valley is being blamed for the dip in crush tonnage this season.

The heat spike last week had workers scrambling to pick fruit, but the forecast for the next four to five days is for more mild weather.
