Restaurant wine lists filled with wines you’ve never heard about in a wide range of prices are just daunting. If you want to order a quality bottle of wine that is a good value, Real Simple suggests taking a look at the prices of the entrees as a guide.
The weblog cites Andrea Immer, host of the Fine Living Network’s Simply Wine, for this recommendation:
A good rule of thumb is to take the price of the most expensive entree as a baseline and then go up to about 50 percent more than that. If it’s $18 for the steak, your ballpark should be $18 to $27.
