Willamette Valley Vineyards has been named Wine Press Northwest’s “Oregon Winery of the Year.” The Turner based winery and vineyard was one of 350 candidates for the award.

“This was an easy decision this year as Willamette Valley Vineyards has been a leader in the industry for decades with their sustainability efforts and high quality Pinot Noir,” said Andy Perdue, editor-in-chief of Wine Press Northwest. In June, the Rainforest Alliance presented Willamette Valley Vineyard founder Jim Bernau the Sustainable Standard-Setter Award. That award recognized the winery’s support of conservation work.

Bernau in October was also presented with the 2010 Governors’ Gold Award for the winery’s support of Special Olympics.
