Wineries turn to ‘flash’ sites to sell wines

Recent hard times in the wine business have led many wineries to take drastic steps to reduce their inventory of bottled wine and raise money in the process.

Many hesitate to discount their wines deeply to distributors for fear that they won’t be able to raise them again if times improve, and they also hate to sell to Trader Joe’s or bargain stores that would similarly tarnish their reputation.

Many have turned to ‘flash’ sites on the Internet to sell their wines with minimum attention.

A ‘flash’ website sells a fixed amount of wine at deep discount for a short time.
