Five years of screwcaps prove their value

While winemakers endlessly debate screwcap enclosures for wine, few U.S. wineries really have that much experience with them.

One winery that has had extensive experience with the screwcaps, however, is Hogue Cellars, Washington state’s second largest winery. (St. Michelle, which also owns Columbia Crest, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and Conn Creek here is by far the state’s biggest producer).

Hogue has been using screwcaps for most of its wine for more than five years and has conducted exhaustive sensory and scientific tests that demonstrate how well the screwcaps work.
