Booze News

Nothing says lazy day in Mexico more than the michelada: a beverage classically composed of tomato juice, lime, salt, ice, beer and hot sauce. While many people may look on it as a summer drink, this refreshing combination works well any time (but perhaps best at brunch in lieu of the hangover-helper Bloody Mary). The question then turns to where, in this city full of Mexican and Latin American restaurants, can one find a phenomenal rendition of this delightful concoction? There are many different takes, and thankfully, all our choices leave out Clamato juice (ick) and instead utilize a variety of citrus, sauces, beers and even sugar. We found out that the michelada has become a low-end liquid art form in a city choked with swanky, complicated cocktails. And we are totally fine with this. Here are five favorites.
