Emotions So Authentic You Can Taste Them!

The USBG is proud to invite you to participate in the “Emotion in a Glass” competition presented by Russian Standard® Vodka, a brand recognized for its true authenticity, superior quality and innovation.

Have you ever tasted Passion or Trust? Inspired by the successful vodka company, Russian Standard Vodka recently introduced cocktails that embody these emotions. Now Russian Standard is inviting bartenders across the country to create cocktails that use scent, texture, temperature and flavor to signify a variety of emotions.

Here’s a unique and first-ever opportunity to show off your skill by bringing your favorite emotion to life in a glass!

To compete, you must submit a Russian Standard Vodka cocktail recipe which embodies an emotion, a picture of your cocktail, and two to three sentences discussing the inspiration for the recipe. All ingredients must be stated in quarter, half, and/ or full ounces (¼, ½, ¾, etc) and smallest quantities (dashes or drops). See the Official Rules and Bartender Guide for more details.

The winner will receive national coverage in Food & Wine magazine and an educational trip for two to Russia, which includes a visit to the $60 million Russian Standard Vodka state of the art distillery in St. Petersburg. In addition, the “Consumer Choice” winner, selected by Russian Standard Vodka Facebook fans, will have the opportunity to win a trip to Tales of the Cocktail in July 2011.

Program Timing:

  • April 5 – May 5: Bartenders submit Emotion cocktail recipe
  • May 20: Top 20 National bartenders’ recipes and inspiration revealed on Facebook for “Consumer Choice” voting
  • May 20 – June 4: Facebook voting for “Consumer Choice” finalist
  • June 4: Final Tasting of Top 5 and winner selection
  • June 20: Winner reveal

Recipe judging criteria will be based on taste, creativity, appearance, texture and ability to connect to the defined emotion. The top bartender’s recipe that receives the most “Likes” on Facebook will be entered into the top 5 finalists. The final judging panel will include members from the USBG, Russian Standard Vodka and Food & Wine magazine.

Good luck to you all and we look forward to your recipes!
